COMMENTS

The 'Quadern de Haikus' (Notes from a Diary) (2021), scored for five players and conceived as a personal diary, responds to the impulses aroused and sensations experienced during such strange and difficult times lived throughout the past pandemic and confinement. The successive miniatures are inspired by the formal conciseness and essentiality of the poetic form of haiku, aspiring to capture the brilliance of the moment with the expressive immediacy and internalized spontaneity of Japanese poetry and calligraphy. The 'Quadern' includes nine movements. Several of them are dedicated to friends -musicians, poets, painters-, often resorting to the acrostic, and their character is very contrasting: there are festive ones -tributes, anniversary greetings-, some are true lamentos, and others are stylized evocations of states of mood and landscapes.
