Marcel Olm was born in Mataró (Barcelona) the 12th of February 1932.
He has studied piano with María Canela at the Liceu Conservatory of Barcelona, and harmony and composition with Cristobal Taltavull (Barcelona).
He is the author of several compositions for piano, voice and piano, violoncello pointing out: Danza Breve (1960) piano; Sonatina (1990), piano; Elegía (1990) violoncello and piano; Imatges (1991) piano; Cántico Espiritual (1991) voice and piano, work about text of San Juan de la Cruz. This works show an evolution in his form and expression.
About his works, Ángeles Presutto, famous international pianist, who lives in Lisabon, says: 'His works have interest, defined as they are, in an intimate style, without exterior apperance'.
The pianist Josefina Gómez-Toldrà has included some of his works for piano in her repertoire and has played them in recitals in Barcelona, Munich, Buenos Aires, Montevideo and La Havana. In the same way, the pianist Montserrat Massagué presented the work Imatges, for the first time, in a recital of the cycle 'VIII Mostra de Música Contemporània' at the Barcelona Superior Conservatory of Music.
As a pianist, performs duo with the soprano Pilar Adán, Singing Prize of the Barcelona Superior Conservatory of Music and has played, without interruption, many recitals of the classic repertoire pointing out: Teatro de la Juventud (Ginebra), Castillo de Blümplitz (Berna), Biblioteca Española (París),- Círculo Catalán (Madrid), Casa deMadrid (Barcelona), etc.
He has recorded for Radio National de España and Catalunya Música. Is memeber of the Associació Catalana de Compositors.
